CHARACTER STUFF
Name: Shockwave
Aliases: None
Canon: Transformers Prime Only the Idw comic and Prime sections are relevant for this app.
Role: resident evil genius and part time creepy cult leader
Species: Cybertronian
Gender: dude robot
Age: REAL OLD.
Appearance: robut | super space tank also here's a GIF because TFP lighting
Origin story: Despite being among the oldest and highest ranking Decepticon officers in Megatron's army, most of Shockwave's wartime activities have remained secret. He has been with Megatron since his rise as a gladiator, and it is known that the Decepticon scientist was involved in the development of several different heinous technologies, such as the cortical psychic patch and the twisting of the Lightning Strike Coalition Force into Dinobots. After the War had resulted in their home planet's death, there was a mass exodus to the stars. But rather than flee into space with other Decepticon forces, Shockwave stayed behind in the underground labs of a destroyed Kaon.
Combing the ruins of the dead city for technological artifacts, he managed to master and reverse-engineer ancient Space Bridge technology from scraps left behind, long after it had been lost. He also did research on Predacons, using any remaining Decepticons that were left behind to form his own group known as the Forged which he regularly experimented on. Not many of them are left as his research has hit it's next stage.
He eventually found his way to Earth upon the activation of his first Space Bridge coinciding with the tracking of Megatron's arrival after their leader had been attacked.
Personality:
Stoic efficiency is Shockwave's modus operandi, with a laser focus on completing whatever task that had been set for him. He is well capable of horrific actions when prompted, but it would never be for any sadistic or emotional reason. Whatever action is done, cruel or kind, is done with complete, amoral apathy. If the most effective option happened to be a benevolent one, it could just as easily chosen in place of one the that is cruel. In the end, it's reaching the objective that counts. Force would only ever be applied when necessary, and he will most likely avoid personal combat unless pressed to it . Overall, he will keep to himself as long as he is left alone.
His actions often speak more than words, considering he doesn't really speak too much. The tiny physical reactions are hard to spot as he's not very expressive to begin with, but they're there. He only ever really chimes in when he feels that the words are necessary. In fact, nothing elicits an annoyed response from him quite as successfully as a guy who loves to monologue (see: Starscream). He prefers working alone, and considers himself most effective when uninterrupted and surrounded by his work instead of people.
Social interaction as a whole seems to take bottom rung on his list of priorities. Unless someone is going to mention something or do something useful to him, they shouldn't expect much but a quiet wall, at best. Although he is willing to tolerate others around him, it should never be mistaken for friendship or any sort of actual desire for companionship. He can somewhat suppress his own distaste of another person for the sake of the larger goal at hand, but he would have no reservations against betraying a supposed(or actual) ally or friend if they have outlived their utility.
Despite this, he is not completely without any semblance of emotion. It isn't easy to hold his respect, and he has no qualms about being condescending and unpleasant to whomever he may consider to be lesser(see: Starscream). Under extreme circumstances, he can be driven to anger, and holds no qualms against teaching someone a lesson in the Decepticon way if it is necessary.
He is shown to sometimes get creepy attachment to his creations, going out of his way to personally lure them into his base to make sure he finishes his work on them. That said, he never lets his emotions get in the way of the bigger picture, and can be convinced out of his more emotional decisions with a logical enough argument.
Basically, he's a creepy, antisocial but incredibly brilliant robot scientist with a major hard-on for logic.
Differences from canon: Will be downsizing him to 14' as per game customs and making him a couple thousand years old rather than several million.
Power level: A
Powers:
Shockwave's most valubale asset is his formidable intellect. He's the type of evil genius that can pick up any topic and master it with a little time, be it interdimensional travel, cloning extinct space robot dragons, or reading the depths of a Cybertronian's brain like a 2GB flash drive. With one hand!!!!1
Shockwave is also robot that turns into a purple space tank. He has a cannon for an arm that's almost as tall as he is. Needless to say it can shoot things real good. He's not a gladiator, but he's gonna be one tough cookie to take down.
Team affiliation: Decepticon
First person sample: Here's a thread and here is another post + thread
Prose sample:
The underground lab held a familiar sight: Monolithic blocks of numbers and notes raced up a massive monitor, and Shockwave was fixed in front of it. He could have very well been wordlessly standing in that same spot for hours - days even, analyzing the information that was pouring in without pause. The only detectable movement was an occasional tilt of the helm, or his remaining right hand plugging in a new value into whatever cryptic equation was laid out in front of him.
Weaving in and out of the lines of text and making sense of all the hard data was what often kept him here. While one might call the long, solitary sessions unhealthy for the psyche, he didn't seem to regard the activity as anything more than part of a necessary routine. After all, once you begin to dabble in the field of inter dimensional travel, the theories and calculations always become massively complex. The thought of leaving never seemed to cross his mind, despite quite literally being enclosed within some forsaken bunker in the pits of a dead Kaon. Whatever discomfort should have been felt seemed eerily absent.
The voice of one of the Vehicon assistants interrupted his thoughts, causing the data onscreen to immediately freeze in place with the push of a button. It takes a moment for Shockwave to fully acknowledge it's existence and turn around. It had long since been established what was deemed appropriate for interrupting him, so there was no semblance of irritation in his posture. He expected them to know when to interject.
"I see."
Something had been plucked from the bones of the city that needed immediate investigation. Something that could possibly fill in the few remaining gaps that their fledgling Space Bridge needed to function. The screen goes blank as he breaks away from the computer terminal, completely pulled out of the previous trance-like state. With the assistant trailing behind, he exits into one of the dark passageways, leaving behind whatever previous effort he had been engaged in without a second thought.
